I love it when i’m “in the zone” in the recording studio, when the music just seems to come out of me from nowhere, and when most of what i play and sing for that moment hits a kind of sweet spot. I…

collaborations
Jean: the most difficult thing about collaborations?
Tania: Distance mostly. A collaboration is a very personal experience for me, and i'd love to be able to spend long hours just connecting and brainstorming, where we're in the same room...but it's not often possible. When you spend most of your time working on a project away from the other people involved, it can be surreal making those intimate connections, so trust and patience are keys to the experience. It's a challenge and something that's very special to me, which is probably why i don't collaborate as much as some musicians.

Questiontime
AM: A lot of your music sounds very moody. Are you a moody personality?
TR: it's a trick question, right? lol. Actually, for the most part i'm a very happy person. I love a laugh, and enjoy my attempts at being witty with friends...or anyone, really. But i'm very empathetic, and draw a lot from other people's experiences in my music. The emotional journey is a big influence, be it mine or somebody else's. I have my moody days, but consider myself a pretty jocular person

Being sick sucks. It bores me, on so many levels, except for it’s one major drawcard…the only thing it has going for it….reflection. When i’m sick, i think about things in a very different way….

questiontime
AM: what's the process in creating a new piece of music?
TR: It can come out of anything. There's no single process for me. Everything is born out of some kind of evolutionary mud. It can first appear as an idea, a circumstance, an accident...it just seems to create itself. Then my role is to shape it and prepare it for some kind of palate.
